Learn How to Make a More Sustainable Home Plus Take Advantage of Rain Barrel Rebates!

Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment’s Watershed Protection Program will host a FREE Zoom webinar to educate Los Angeles-area homeowners about the benefits of rainwater harvesting and owning rain barrels, while showcasing how to properly maintain them just in time for spring. The webinar will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Interested residents are encouraged to sign up for the FREE webinar at https://march5rainbarrelwebinar.eventbrite.com/. Aside from learning rain barrel maintenance tips, participants will also find out about rebates for the purchase of a rain barrel. While the webinar is free to anyone to attend, city of Los Angeles residents who participate will be entered into a random drawing to win a $25 gift card from a recognized home improvement store.

Jesse Savou, Rain Catchment System Designer from BlueBarrel Rainwater Catchment System will present the FREE webinar. She will provide step-by-step instructions on how to maintain rain barrels at home, while also highlighting how the collected rainwater can be used to irrigate lawns and minimize the amount of water flowing into storm drains and local waterways.

Did you know?

With the more than seven inches of rain received this past December alone in the greater Los Angeles area, a 1,000 square foot roof with properly installed rain barrels could have captured more than 4,200 gallons of rainwater for irrigation purposes.

L.A. Sanitation and Environment’s Watershed Protection Program encourages Angelenos to reduce the amount of pollution flowing into local rivers, creeks and local beaches.
